These sessions are small groups and or one on one, to ensure you receive the personalized training you need. They are a combination of classroom and field training, providing guidance, techniques and tips so you gain the right skills and confidence to capture the world through your lens!
New to photography or looking to build confidence with your camera? This beginner-friendly workshop is the perfect place to start. In a relaxed, small-group setting, you’ll get hands-on guidance to understand your camera and take control of your settings.
This 2-hour classroom-style session covers:
📷 Your Starting Point – Discuss your current skill level and where you’d like to grow.
📷 Gear Review – Get familiar with the buttons, dials, and features of your camera.
📷 Camera Settings – Learn how to adjust Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO for better photos.

Nature Photography 101
Capture the beauty of the natural world while keeping wildlife and the environment first. This small-group workshop (max 4 participants) is designed for beginners who want to move beyond auto mode and start taking intentional, ethical nature photos.
Led by award-winning nature photographer Jo-Anne Oucharek, this hands-on session covers:
📷 Ethical Photography – Respecting wildlife, minimizing impact, and understanding behaviour before you shoot.
📷 Camera Basics – Getting off auto mode, adjusting settings in the field, and working with natural light.
📷 Review & Recap – Returning to the classroom to analyze shots, refine techniques, and apply what you’ve learned.

Take your nature photography to the next level with a private, one-on-one workshop designed to sharpen your skills while respecting wildlife and their habitats on the amazing 40 acres at Early Dawn Farm.
📷 Ethical Photography – Learn how to minimize your impact, follow ethical guidelines, and respect the natural world while capturing stunning images.
📷 Seasonal Wildlife & Birds – Photograph a variety of species that change with the seasons. Early Dawn Farm’s diverse landscape—boreal forest, creek, and open grasslands—provides incredible opportunities for capturing birds and wildlife in their natural environment.
